Alec MotyerAlec Motyer - who has passed from this life in August 2016 at the age of 91 - was born and educated in Dublin, and knew a call to Christian ministry when -aged six, although converted to Christ at the age of sixteen, through a Brethren mission. He has served in full-time ministry in Wolverhampton, Bristol, London and Bournemouth. Through his outstanding work and leadership in British theological seminaries, he has been widely recognised as an inspirer and teacher of numerous younger ministers across the decades, He has been a preacher in the public arena and a writer for the church at large. His messages have been featured at such conventions as Keswick, Strathpeffer and Portstewart. He was known for his editing work with IVP in ‘The New Bible Commentary’ and ‘The Bible Speaks Today’ set of Bible commentaries. Among his many books have been ‘The Prophecy of Isaiah’ (IVP 1993), ‘Isaiah’ (Tyndale Commentary 1999; IVP) and a more recent work - for daily devotional reading – ‘Isaiah by the Day’ (Christian Focus, 2011). Alec Motyer was also a participant in ten on-screen Bible programmes on the prophecy of Isaiah – in the international ‘Book by Book’ series with Paul Blackham and Richard Bewes (www.BiblicalFrameworks.com) We entrust the members of his devoted family to the power of heaven, following the momentous years that he and his beloved Beryl spent among them all.
